상담의 은유적 해석 : 한자어[相談]에 내포된 이미지를 중심으로
이 연구의 목적은 상담의 한자어[相談]에 내포된 상징들의 은유적 해석을 통해서 상담의 본 질적인 의미와 실천적인 전략을 규명하여 상담의 개념을 새롭게 정립하는 것이다. 연구자는 신화, 종교학, 철학, 문학, 심리학, 과학 등 다양한 문헌을 고찰하여 나무[木], 눈[目], 말씀[談] 등 한자어 상담(相談)을 구성하고 있는 상형들에 연관된 상징적인 의미를 파악하고, ‘생명의 나무’, ‘영웅의 여행’, ‘이야기 재구성’ 등의 은유를 도출하여 상담 실제와의 연관성을 탐구한 다. 이를 토대로 연구자는 상담의 개념을 새롭게 정의한다. 즉, 상담은 심리적 지원을 필요로 하는 개인, 가족, 집단을 대상으로 [상담자와 내담자가] 촉진적 대화와 이야기 재구성을 통해 서 생명의 주체로서 내담자가 인간적인 변화와 성장을 지속하도록 영웅의 여행을 안내하고 조력하는 전문적 관계다. 이와 같이 한자어 상담에 내포된 상형들의 은유적 해석을 통해 상 담의 개념을 정립하려는 시도는 상담의 본질적인 의미를 이해하고 효과적인 상담을 위한 실 천적인 전략을 개발하는 데 실제적인 기여를 한다. 연구자는 이러한 상담의 재개념화에 기 초해서 조력전문직으로서 상담의 사회적 위상과 법적 지위를 확보하려는 상담학계의 현실적 인 고민과 교과 중심의 수업 활동으로 편향된 학교교육의 본질적인 문제를 성찰하고 재조명 한다.
Metaphoric Interpretation of Counseling : Focused on Images Making up Hanja-eo[相談]
The purpose of this review was to interpret metaphorically those symbols contained in Hanja-eo ‘Sang-Dam’ in order to re-establish the nature of counseling in terms of both conceptual and practical meanings. Researcher examined various documents such as mythology, religion, philosophy, literature, psychology, science etc., and explored the symbolic meanings related to the hieroglyphs that make up Hanja-eo ‘Sang-Dam’, such as trees, eyes, and words. Form this, researcher derived metaphors such as ‘Tree of Life’, ‘Hero’s Journey’, and ‘Re-storying’ and explored their connection with the counseling. Based on this, the researcher newly defined the concept of counseling. In other words, counseling is the professional relationship through that counselor guides the hero's journey to help client(s) sustain the human change and growth as the main agent of life through facilitative dialogue and story reconstruction for individuals, families, and groups in need of psychological support. In this way, attempts to establish the concept of counseling through metaphorical interpretation of hieroglyphs embedded in Hanja-eo ‘Sang-Dam’ make a practical contribution to understanding the meaning of counseling and developing practical strategies for effective counseling. Based on this re-conceptualization of counseling, the researcher re-examined realistic concerns of the counseling academy to secure the social and legal status of counselor as an professional, and reflected on the limitations of school education biased by subject-centered class activities.
